I would like to take this opportunity to provide an account of my background in the American Saddlebred Industry. In the early eighties, I came to the United States several times and worked for trainers such as Bill Wise, Tom Moore, and Mitchell Clark. In 1995, I came again with my family and imported Zovoorbij Commander in Chief, the first American Saddlebred to ever come from South Africa to the USA. The ASHA acknowledged this pioneer move by giving me the International Award. Since then, many South African horses have come to the USA and have become great champions at Louisville- like Commander in Chief.
My first year in America, I worked on Star Hill Farm (Delafield, Wisconsin). There I trained the Reserve World Champion Amateur Road Pony, Clancy Lane. The next two and a half years, I worked for Ruxer Farm (Jasper, Indiana) where I worked and presented the Reserve World Champion Three Gaited Park Horse Ramses. Here I also had the pleasure of starting and developing some great young horses such as Counsel Chief, Candle Dan, Shadows & Shades, Should’ve Asked Her Faster, Cybertown, Power Stroke, and Cape Town Talent.
In South Africa I won 59 South African Championships, including the South African Three Gaited Grand Championships three times, the Five Gaited Grand Championship once, and won the Two Year Old Three Gaited Championships five times.
After being in the USA for ten years, we are very excited and grateful to have our own barn and farm now. We are dedicated to making this barn as successful as our barn in South Africa has been.
We are also very excited about our new young stallion Red Hawk Red Hawk. He is out of the Carol Trigg bloodline, which I have always admired and worked with in South Africa. This page is too short to name the offspring of Carol Trigg who became World Champions. Here are a few of my favorites: WGC Imperator, WGC Protégé, WGC Our Golden Duchess, WGC Boucheron, WGC Cameo’s Angel Wings, WC New York New York, WC Attache, WC Gotta Dance. Red Hawk’s first babies will be 2 years old in 2006. They exceed our expectations by far, and we cannot wait for them to hit the show ring.
If I could develop a Five Gaited World’s Grand Champion out of my South African stock, there is no telling what I can do for you…..I strongly believe in my training methods; how I develop a young horse, and how I work with its mind. I guarantee quality work and quality care. All I need is the opportunity to give your horses the career they deserve.
